UFC on Versus3 was a blast!
UFC President Dana White gave out more than $120,000 to maincard fighters Martin Kampmann and Diego Sanchez as fight bonuses, excluding their salaries. Imagine the intensity of that fight for Dana to give almost 80% of the fight's income. Can't imagine it? Look at the pictures below as they speak for themselves:
Co-main event: Munoz v. Dollaway
Munoz (he is a filipino btw) knocked out Dollaway 54 seconds into the fight with a straight right followed by a couple of hammer fists. His win, however, was overshadowed by the exciting fight between Sanchez and Kampmann.
Main event: Sanchez v. Kampmann
As always, Diego Sanchez always brings the A to the GAME. This fight marks the start of his career as a welterweight (after going down to 155 lbs class). After winning by controversial decision (29-28 from all three judges), Dana announced that they will each receive additional 60grand as the fight was awarded fight of the night. Diego's face was a mess after the fight, and Kampmann's right hand was broken, but it's worth it. Great fight!
Diego's eyes are almost closed due to hematoma and cuts. ouch! But these cuts are nothing compared to the huge gash that he suffered from his title contention fight against BJ Penn last year:
Photo was taken a month after his fight with BJ. See the gash above his left eye? It was cut open by BJ by a right leg kick. And man, it was the nastiest cut I've seen ever. The gash was as huge as his eye!
Sanchez' move from lightweight to welterweight is the best decision he made. He's lighter on his feet as compared to guys from the 170lbs division. YES! YES! YES! (quoted from sanchez. LOL)
Meanwhile, I must make a prediction. 10 years from now, Steve O. (8 year old wrestling champion) will make his debut in ufc as the greatest wrestler evah. hahaha look at this pin machine kid:
